Samsung to release Google Edition version of Galaxy S4

The recently released Samsung Galaxy S4 is going to get a different release in the next couple of months – as announced yesterday during Google I/O, the handset will be available running vanilla Android. This is similar to the Nexus line of handsets, although this handset was not given that name yesterday.

The handset will be unlocked and available for $649 from the Google Play store. A UK price has not yet been announced but presumably it will be around the £450 mark. This will no doubt be much in demand from the type of user who usually flashes CyanogenMod onto their handset. It’s not as cheap as a Nexus 4 but may be worth the extra outlay for the removable battery and microSD card slot.
